Prepared or "crazy"

The term prepper has been thrown around for years and not always in a positive light. Lets dig into a preppers mind to see what makes them tick.

The average prepper is an individual that can imagine a time when going to a grocery store may not be the easy thing to do. Preppers are just like you and I but they have a tendency to not always trust that things will go as planned. There are many levels of prep from something as simple as a 3 day supply of food to a large cache of food, ammo, water, gardening supplies, fuel, etc.

We all witnessed firsthand how supply chains can get easily disrupted. Remember when TP sold out? How about the time when the meat shelves were empty? This is just a small example of what happened recently.

Anything can happen, a pandemic, severe weather, strikes, transportation issues, money devaluation, and the list can go on.

What should a prep pack include? That depends on what your tastes are. I recommend a good variety of proteins, freeze dried fruits, dried beans, water, drink mixes, spices, salt, sugar, pasta, easy mix items, survival book with focus on natural cures and shelters, paracord, medication, lightweight tarp, lightweight cooking utensils in the event you need to travel, either a straw purifier or a drip water purifier, food grade sealable buckets, mylar bags, oxygen reducing packs (extends storage time when sealed in mylar bags), water proof matches, flint, vegetable seeds, and the list can go on.

The average person can easily survive most conditions while consuming 1800-2000 calories per day     ( can vary in extreme weather conditions). Remember this supply is designed to keep you alive in the event a catastrophe occurs. This isn't designed to take the place of a gourmet meal but with a little ingenuity a tasty meal you can have. I also recommend preparing several recipes in advance to be placed in the sealed bucket (the internet may not be an option to search recipes).

While most of us likely have some form of firearm, it is important to have ammo to go along with it. Small bore rifles are great and the ammo is lightweight. ( Henry repeating arms or Charter arms make easy to store .22 cal rifles).

I hope this gives you some pointers on building your own prep pack. It is never "crazy" to be prepared for a disaster but it can be a real disaster if you are not prepared.

Why BIG government loves inflation

INFLATION!!!  That dirty word that we all have become more knowledgeable about than we ever...
